5 SEO Tips for Property Management Websites

Use the Right Keywords

In order to improve the chances that your site will be found by your audience online, you have to understand what words and terms they are using when they conduct an internet search. For instance, if your business primarily serves Ontario properties, a few good keyword phrases to target would be “property managers in Ontario” or “Ontario property management companies”. The more you hone in on these key words and phrases, the better your website will perform in the search engines.

Place Keywords Wisely

Once you have your list of keywords, it’s time to start placing them throughout your website. There are certain places where keywords are believed to be most effective in terms of SEO, so be sure to be wise about where you choose to use them. Focus on your page titles, headings, and URLs and remember not to overdo it. Keyword stuffing, or using too many keywords in any given area of your website, can actually have the opposite affect and hurt your search ranking. A good keyword density to aim for is 1-2%, which means that on a page containing 400 words, your targeted keyword should appear 4-8 times.

Maximize Your Title Tags

The title tag is what appears at the very top of your web browser and is also used as the headline snippet that appears in the search engine results. For this reason, it is extremely important that you are optimizing your title tags to get the best possible results. Include targeted keywords, geographical modifiers and your organization’s name whenever possible. Try to place keywords close to the beginning of your title tags for best search ranking results. It’s also important to keep title tags limited to just 70 characters or less, otherwise not all the content will appear in the search results.

Optimize Your Images

Image search engines, such as Google Images, also play an important role in getting a website noticed on the web, and property management organizations are at a unique advantage because of the number of pictures found on their websites. Be sure to include targeted keywords in your image file names using dashes [i.e., property-management-ontario] so that the pictures on your website will have a better chance of being located on the web, and will subsequently drive traffic to your site and your business. If you’re not optimizing your images, you’re most certainly missing out.

Link Build

Another important component of SEO that search engines like Google give particular weight to is linking. Not just any linking, mind you – but links within content that direct readers to other relevant areas of the web. Whenever possible, place links to other pages of your website within your content. For instance, when writing a blog post, refer back to a previous post that is relevant with hyper-linked content (like this). Not only will this improve the way your site is ranked in the search engines, but it will also help keep web visitors on your site longer.
